2 DEAD IN “DOMESTIC SITUATION” AT 1893 OAK GROVE ROAD IN DANDRIDGE

Jefferson County authorities say two people are dead after a domestic situation at 1893 Oak Grove Road in Dandridge early Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies arrived four minutes after the call came in, to find a child standing in the doorway. A man ran from the house behind the child, who fled toward deputies. The man told deputies someone had been shot. Officers took the unharmed child to a safe location.

After several unsuccessful attempts to make contact with someone inside the home, a special response team was finally able to enter the residence at 4:30 p.m. Eastern. They found two people dead; no shots were fired by officers. Authorities have not yet released information about the deceased and would not confirm anything about a cause of death. But the sheriff’s office said there is no immediate threat to the public.

Oak Grove Road was blocked west of the Douglas Lake Campground while crews from the sheriff’s office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation examined the scene.
