2017 STARTS OUT WITH COUNTERFEIT MONEY AT CUMBERLAND COUNTY BUSINESSES

Instead of spreading good cheer around Cumberland County for the start of 2017, someone is spreading around counterfeit currency. Deputies were called to two different businesses for reports of phony money just two days before the New Year. The manager of the Creston Rd. Dollar General Store told officers that she found a bogus $20 bill in the previous day’s receipts. That same day, an employee of Red’s Ale House in Fairfield Glade received two counterfeit 20’s during the sale of a Nintendo Wii game system. A female paid the victim $60 for the system from which two of three $20 bills paid were fake. A suspect has been named in that incident and the investigation is continuing.
