26-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED AFTER THREATENING TO CUT OFF VICTIM’S HEAD

In the early hours of Monday morning, Cumberland County deputies were dispatched to Lawsontown Road for an assault that occurred.

A woman stated she was staying with a friend when she was attacked by a male identified as 26-year-old Cory Gamble. The victim stated that Cory suddenly became irate, began threatening her, and shoved her down. He punched her several times in the face and body before grabbing an ax handle and striking her in the head. He allegedly pulled a knife and claimed he was going to cut her head off.

Another woman awoke from hearing screaming and witnessed the outburst. She told Cory, “The car was still running outside” which got him to run out the front door. The victim ran in the opposite direction to a friend’s house where she was able to call authorities.

Cory was found in the woods across the street and was taken into custody without incident. He asked deputies multiple times what happened and couldn’t remember anything or why he was in the woods.

The women told deputies they believed Cory was under the influence of a narcotic. He was charged with Aggravated Assault and Public Intoxication.
