3.6 MILLION LITTLE GIANT LADDERS RECALLED OVER FALL HAZARD AFTER REPORTS OF INJURIES AND SUDDEN RETRACTIONS

Federal safety officials have announced a massive recall of approximately 3,662,000 Little Giant ladders equipped with Rapid Locks. The ladders can suddenly retract if the locking mechanisms are not fully engaged, creating a significant fall hazard for users.

Recall Details

The recall affects multiple popular models sold nationwide at major retailers, including Lowe’s, Costco, and online platforms such as Amazon, from December 2015 through October 2026 for between $100 and $1,000.
  • Affected Models: Adjustable Fortress 2.0, Conquest 2.0, Dark Horse 2.0, Epic, King Kombo XT, Leveler, MegaLite, MegaLite+, Multi, Quantum, and Vector.
  • How to Identify: The brand and model names are printed on the side of the ladder. Only ladders lacking an orange rectangular “QC” sticker on the rail above one of the Rapid Locks are included in the recall.

Injuries and Incidents

Little Giant has received 25 reports of ladders retracting unexpectedly, resulting in 19 injuries. Reported injuries include three severe head injuries—such as traumatic brain injuries, skull fractures, concussions, and vision or hearing loss—along with 16 other injuries, including bone fractures, lacerations, and bruising. The company has also logged 39 complaints of Rapid Locks failing to function properly.

What Consumers Should Do

  • Stop Using Immediately: Consumers should halt use of the recalled ladders until they review safety information online or via the ladder’s QR code.
  • Remedy Options: Contact Little Giant to receive a repair kit featuring warning labels and updated instructions on verifying lock engagement and lubrication. If a lock still fails to function after applying the provided troubleshooting steps and evaluation, consumers can choose between a replacement ladder or a refund (ranging from full price for purchases within the last 12 months to a depreciated value based on the purchase date).
