3 ARRESTED IN JULY 4TH FIREWORKS INCIDENT IN KNOXVILLE
Three people were arrested by Knoxville Police Tuesday following an incident where a crowd tossed fireworks at two officers. Reportedly a large number of calls were received by Dispatch on July 4th concerning the Lonsdale Homes area where fireworks were allegedly being thrown at people and vehicles. Later, around 10:30, officers who responded to the call allegedly had fireworks thrown at them by a growing crowd of people. Several officers separated into groups and were able to clear the crowds but not before they were attacked attempting to take one man, Jayron Mobley, in to custody. He was charged with inciting a riot and evading arrest while a juvenile female, a relative of Mobley’s, was charged with inciting a riot and assault. Another juvenile was cited for breaking state curfew.
