6-WEEK-OLD BABY DIES AFTER DOG ATTACK IN KNOX COUNTY
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – For days, 6-week-old Ezra Mansoor had been in critical condition at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital after the family said he was attacked by the family dog.
Chloe Mansoor, Ezra’s mother, said that her son didn’t survive the injuries and was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon, which was news that rocked the family.“Being his mom was the biggest honor and the best thing I’ve ever done,” said Mansoor.
Mansoor said the family dog, a husky who they had owned for eight years, had never shown aggression prior to this incident.
In the midst of grieving their loss, Mansoor and her family hope that others can learn from their story and take caution in having dogs around small children.
“It could be any dog at any time. Completely unprovoked, no matter what the history is,” said Mansoor.
The family decided to have Ezra be an organ donor in the hopes of helping save the lives of other children, which has given them a brief amount of peace in what’s been a tragic time.
Mansoor said she enjoyed every second of being a mother and urges others to not take the time they have with their children for granted.
“Pray for all the family really, all of the family loved him so much. I know everyone’s grieving right now, we’re grieving right now, and it’s going to be a lifelong process trying to work through this,” said Mansoor.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office, per standard protocol, is investigating this case.
The family dog responsible for the attack was taken to Young Williams Animal Center, according to Mansoor.
