CLEVELAND MAN ARRESTED AFTER FEDS USE CELL PHONE TO TIE HIM TO JANUARY 6TH CAPITOL RIOT
Authorities arrested a Cleveland, Tennessee man Friday in connection to the Capitol riot.
Chad Hedgcock’s phone number is how investigators identified him as a suspect. According to federal court documents, the FBI determined a device using a number registered to Hedgcock was present for the January 6, 2021 incident.
While researching Hedgcock, investigators found an article about his wife being arrested after refusing to wear a mask at a medical center in. The article contained several photos of the couple.
Investigators then found Hedgcock and the woman in the article mentioned above own a home together in Cleveland, Tennessee. An FBI agent attempted to interview Hedgcock at the home on February 12, 2022. The agent asked if he entered the Capitol building on January 6, 2021. Hedgcock declined to answer.
A Task Force Officer returned to Hedgcock’s home on August 23, 2022. The officer found him and his wife outside. Hedgcock refused to be interviewed saying, “We don’t talk to cops.”
Investigators say Hedgcock can be seen several times in security footage from the Capitol riot. This is the timeline laid out in the federal court documents:
2:55 P.M Chad Hedgcock entered the Capitol through the Parliamentarian Doors. Hedgcock continued down the hall. At some point he removed his backpack and gloves.
3:00 P.M. Chad Hedgcock exited the Capitol through the Parliamentarian Doors.
3:13 P.M. Chad Hedgcock approached the Senate Wind Door, but did not re-enter the Capitol.
Hedgcock is charged with Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building, Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building, Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building, and Parading, Picketing, or Demonstrating in a Capitol Building.
