700 FLAGS PLACED AT GARRISON PARK FIELD FOR VETERANS DAY
700 American flags were placed at Garrison Park Field in Cumberland County to honor veterans ahead of Veterans Day.
The Field of Honor has been taking place for the last three years, and it gives the community a way to thank their veterans.
“It’s a great way to bring the community together to make veterans feel truly honored, and people can purchase a flag in honor of a loved one,” Melody Livingston, the Field of Honor project chair, said. “A veteran that is currently serving or a veteran of any of the branches of the armed services.”
While this is a community event, the flags are all for the veterans. They are placed there there for everybody to honor those who are serving and have served.
“You look at these flags 700 flags. Each one is dedicated to a veteran, and those veterans, they gave up and they made so many sacrifices so that we would still have the freedoms that we enjoy today,” Jean Smith, the Field of Honor spokesperson, said. “That’s what this field is just about them. It’s all about them.”
