9,462 POUNDS OF FROZEN MEATBALLS RECALLED OVER METAL CONTAMINATION
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on February 22, 2026, that Rosina Food Products, Inc., based in West Seneca, New York, is voluntarily recalling approximately 9,462 pounds of ready-to-eat frozen meatball products due to possible contamination with metal fragments. The affected items are 32-ounce printed poly film bags of fully cooked “Bremer FAMILY SIZE ITALIAN STYLE MEATBALLS,” containing about 64 meatballs per package, produced on July 30, 2025, with a “BEST BY” date of October 30, 2026, and timestamps between 17:08 and 18:20 on the back label. These packages bear the establishment number “EST. 4286B” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were distributed nationwide to Aldi supermarket locations.
The recall was initiated after FSIS received a consumer complaint reporting metal fragments in the product. No injuries or confirmed illnesses from consumption have been reported so far, though anyone experiencing concerns should consult a healthcare provider. FSIS urges consumers who may have these products in their refrigerators or freezers to discard them or return them to the place of purchase, as some may still be in homes given the product’s 15-month shelf life. The agency will conduct effectiveness checks to ensure the recall is properly executed and plans to post retail distribution lists on its website when available.
