BILL LEE SWORN IN AS 50TH GOVERNOR OF TENNESSEE IN 11 A.M. CEREMONY

For the first time since 1974, inclement weather has forced the inauguration of a Tennessee governor indoors.

In an ceremony that began at 11 a.m., Bill Lee was inaugurated as the 50th governor of the state of Tennessee. Lee’s inauguration was held at the War Memorial in Nashville, following a morning worship service at the Grand Ole Opry House. Lee took the oath of office at noon.

The worship service had been slated for the Ryman Auditorium, but the venue had to be changed due to the expected size of the crowd.

Overflow for the inauguration ceremony was in the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

The Republican governor has pinpointed education and criminal-justice reform as some of the first priorities in his new administration.
