ROANE COUNTY DEPUTIES ARREST WOMAN HIDING IN ATTIC FOR TRESPASSING, EVADING ARREST

Wednesday afternoon, Roane County deputies responded to a home on Sugar Grove Valley Road and found a car in the driveway that didn’t belong to the homeowner. After deputies knocked at the door for several minutes, two men answered. They indicated 29-year-old Delilah Teresa Caldwell – whom the homeowner had previously banned from the property – was in the bathroom and had told them she was going to hide in the attic.

Dispatch contacted the homeowner, who said the house had been vacant for months and nobody was allowed to be in there.

Once the homeowner arrived, deputies cleared the home and ensured nobody was on the main level. Caldwell eventually emerged from the attic and was charged with aggravated criminal trespass and evading arrest. She also admitted having a warrant from Lenoir City. While en route to the Roane County jail, Caldwell claimed she was suicidal and wanted to die. Jail staff were made aware of this statement by Caldwell.
