MORE COUNTERFEIT $100 BILLS SURFACING IN CROSSVILLE

Late Monday night, a Crossville police officer conducting a traffic stop noticed a $100 bill in the seat beside the driver. He asked if it was real. The driver told him it was fake and handed the officer a roll of counterfeit $100 bills with Chinese writing on the backs. He said he’d gotten them from an acquaintance.
The officer gave the driver a property receipt for the bills and entered them into evidence at the police department.
A few hours later, a clerk at the Circle K store on Highway 127 contacted Crossville police about a counterfeit $100 bill presented to her by a customer.
The clerk said she didn’t believe the customer knew the bill was fake.
The customer said he’d gotten the bill from a man who lives at the Village Inn apartments. Police confiscated the phony bill.
