HUMAN REMAINS FOUND IN GSMNP FINALLY IDENTIFIED

A set of human remains that were discovered in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park last month have been identified. Officials say that the remains are that of 64-year-old David J. Carver of Blount County. Carver’s sister reported him missing in June. However, she had not actually seen him since April. She stated at the time that he had a heart condition and that he would take off into the woods to hunt Ginseng. The remains were found by a hiker Monday, June 8th, in an off-trail area near Laurel Creek Road. Identification was found on the corpse, along with a bunch of Ginseng. The cause of death is under investigation.
