The man accused of dealing in national human sex trafficking committed suicide in federal jail  overnight. Law enforcement officials report that Jeffrey Epstein was being housed in jail in lower Manhattan and was discovered hanging early Saturday morning, reportedly by his own hand. Epstein was discovered unresponsive in his cell a couple weeks ago with marks on his neck that appeared to be self-inflicted. He had been on suicide watch since July 23. The 66-year-old Epstein had pleaded guilty to all charges and faced up to 45 years in prison if convicted.
