Post placeholder image

Both dangerous heat and strong to severe storms are expected to impact the listening area this afternoon and early tonight. Heat index values ranging from 100 degrees on the plateau to 108 degrees west of the plateau and in the valley will be possible. A cold front is expected to move into the area later today bringing strong to severe storms. The storms will start early this afternoon in Southern Kentucky then move towards Middle Tennessee late afternoon to the evening hours. The timing of the storms on the plateau is between 5 and 9 p.m. central time. Torrential downpours, frequent lightning, wind gusts to 60 m.p.h., and small hail is expected. The threat for tornadoes remains low. The storms are expected to move out of the listening area by 11 p.m. central time. After the storm threat ends, a relief to the hot temperatures is on deck. Behind the front, much drier, less humid air will come in with slightly cooler temperatures.
