A former Cumberland County sheriff has passed away. Leon Tollett died just before 1 a.m. this morning. He was a United States Army veteran. After his military service, he spent 6 years on the Crossville Police Department serving as Assistant Chief and later spent 28 years with Tennessee Highway Patrol where he retired as Lieutenant. Leon then served as sheriff of Cumberland County for a four year term. He along his wife ran Tollett Grocery in Homestead for many years. Funeral services for Leon Tollett will be announced at a later time.
