Volusia County, Florida authorities say a 43-year-old man from Putnam County, Tennessee drowned yesterday afternoon while swimming. This information comes from the Volusia County Beach Safety. The identity of the man was not initially released. The section of the ocean was near Maverick Resort in Ormond Beach. The victim was caught in a rip current. Beach Safety workers said they have rescued about 147 people from rip currents this weekend alone.
