The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, will launch a program called “Cumberland Overwatch” this month. It is a combined effort to slow down the amount of accidents in the county. The latest crash statistics show that between September and October, 91 accidents took place in the 61 day period. Officers reported 28 accidents that resulted in either injuries or deaths. The emphasis on the program will especially be in place from November 21 to the 23. Officers will be looking for speeders, aggressive driving or ones under the influence of alcohol or drugs while driving.
