A seven vehicle accident on I-40 in eastern Putnam County early this afternoon resulted in injuries.

The preliminary information from the troopers on scene indicates that traffic was coming to a stop at the 295 west bound because of another crash nearby.  All seven involved vehicles were traveling in the left lane.  Vehicle 1 was able to come to a controlled stop but was struck in the rear by vehicle 2.  Vehicle 2 was then struck in the rear by vehicle 3 and so on.  Three individuals sustained minor injuries and were transported to area hospitals.
