FORMER RHEA CO. DEPUTY CHARGED WITH RAPE OF A TEEN
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation obtained indictments for a former deputy of the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department who stands accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a teenager.
On May 1, 2019 at the request of 12th District Attorney General J. Michael Taylor, TBI agents began investigating an alleged rape of a 17-year-old female. As a result of the investigation, agents developed information leading to 23-year-old Juvencio Dwayne Bustos as the man responsible for the crime. The department terminated the deputy’s employment when the allegation surfaced.
This past Monday, a Rhea County grand jury returned indictments, charging Bustos with rape, statutory rape, and possession of a Schedule III drug.
Yesterday, Bustos surrendered to TBI agents, who subsequently booked him into the Rhea County Jail on $150,000 bond.
