THREE HOUR STANDOFF IN MIDTOWN ENDS WITHOUT INJURY

Numerous law enforcement agencies in Roane County responded to Midtown Motel near I-40 this afternoon for a man barricaded inside a room threatening himself and anyone who tried to enter the room. The man reportedly had a firearm in the room. A section of Highway 70 in front of the motel was closed as a safety precaution as authorities tried to communicate with the subject to give up. The standoff came to an end just before 3 p.m. eastern when the man surrendered and was taken to a hospital for an evaluation. His identity was not initially released. Harriman police Chief Baron Tapp appreciates the assistance they had at the scene in getting the situation resolved without injury.
