Two area high school girls basketball teams will begin their state championship run this Thursday night (March 9).

Clarkrange advanced to the state tournament by defeating Marion County 73 to 58 last night. Clarkrange will face Perry County in the opening round of the state tournament Thursday at 1:15 p.m. at the MTSU Murphy Center in Murfreesboro.

Pickett County also advanced to state with their 77 to 40 victory over Van Buren County last night. Pickett County will take on South Greene in the opening round of the state tournament at 6 p.m. at the Murphy Center this Thursday.

In boys regional finals action, Harriman will play Cosby tomorrow night (Monday, March 6) at 7 p.m. and Pickett County will play Van Buren County at 7 p.m. Monday (March 6). The winner of these two games will advance to the boys state basketball tournament set to get underway in mid-March.
