(DEVELOPING STORY) – The Tennessee Department of Transportation is currently working to repair a damaged part of a bridge on I-40 near Crab Orchard over Highway 70 East. A large truck hit the bridge. As of 5 p.m. central today (Friday, September 18, 2020), eastbound traffic is down to one lane (right lane is blocked) on I-40 near the 329 mile marker resulting in a near 7 mile backup. Estimated time of clearing is 8 p.m. central.

Highway 70 under the bridge is closed and estimated to be cleared by 9 p.m. central.
