On October 2, 2020, Gene Medley, of Crossville, went home to God and to the many beloved family members waiting to receive him. For 93 years, he gave this world and his family his whole heart. He served his country in World War II and Korea in the US Navy. After he left the service, he worked many years as a manager for Sears, then started his own successful business in Crossville. His town knew him as smart, funny, generous, and kind—and he was all of those things and more to his family. He spent many wonderful days at Fair Park Senior Center, and anyone who played pool against him knows how much game he truly had!

He leaves behind his daughters: Charlotte Medley, Gisele Medley Redmond –Vaught; granddaughter: Gynni Redmond, (Joshua Boone); grandson: JB Redmond; great-grandchildren: Anthony Mathers, Aften Boone, Liam Boone and Joshlyn Boone; godson: William Gene Stepp; nephews: Gaither Medley (Dessie),Gary Medley (Kay), Kevin Medley (Debbie), and Keith Medley (Diane); niece: Cathy Oliver Terrill; and many great-nephews and nieces and their families. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Fair Park Senior Center, or to Metavivor to support ongoing research into Stage 4 Breast Cancer, a challenge faced by his granddaughter.

Because of serious health concerns within the family, the funeral service will be an outside service at Hood Funeral Home at 2 p.m. central Wednesday October 7, 2020. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Green Acres Memory Gardens. The family has respectfully asked that social distancing be observed and masks are required.
