HIGH SPEED PURSUIT ON I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY ENDS WITH ARREST

A high speed pursuit on I-40 in Cumberland County late last night ended with an arrest. The Tennessee Highway Patrol initially attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 32-year-old William Lee Kirby of Chattanooga at the 338 mile marker. Kirby led troopers and deputies with the sheriff’s office to the Crab Orchard exit, got off then went back on the interstate heading in the wrong direction. Traffic was stopped ahead of the pursuit and spike strips put out flattened the tires on Kirby’s vehicle. He was arrested for possession of a drug (15 grams of meth according to Sheriff Casey Cox), driving on a revoked license, evading arrest and two counts of reckless endangerment.
