MURDER SUSPECT MAKES COURT APPEARANCE IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Thomas Mack Arnold, Sr., age 38, appeared in Cumberland County General Sessions court today charged with first-degree murder. Officials said the judge set a preliminary hearing for this Monday, November 23, 2020 to see if there is enough evidence in the case to send it to criminal court.

Arnold stands accused of the fatal shooting of 63-year-old Billy Ray Jones at a residence on Christian Road on September 27, 2020. Arnold fled the scene and was stopped before sunrise the next day in south Georgia.

Court officials say Arnold has an extensive criminal history in Cumberland County dating back to 2000. He is from Jessup, Georgia. He has been arrested in the past for aggravated assault, felony evading arrest, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm while under the influence and numerous violation of probations.
