FENTRESS COUNTY WILDFIRE 85 PERCENT CONTAINED

A large wildfire in Fentress County was reported to be 85 percent contained as of last night (March 10, 2021). The blaze is on 1,200 acres of land 4 miles southwest of Jamestown off of Gouldstown Road.
Crews used bulldozers to create containment lines, but some of the terrains were too steep so they had to manually dig them.
The cause of the fire is unknown and investigators will not be able to start looking into it until the fire is fully contained.
The weather today will present a challenge to get the rest of the fire out. Wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour is expected throughout the day. However, the weather will favor the firefighters tomorrow and Saturday as rain is expected to fall.
