CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED 15-CENT PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The Crossville City Council will hold a public hearing this Tuesday (June 8, 2021) to hear comments from citizens on a proposed 15-cent property tax increase.
If approved, the city will see an additional $600,000 annually. The reason is to financially help with a rise in operations costs and toward a proposed indoor recreational center. The city recently bought land for it near the intersection of Genesis Road and Iris Lane.
You would have to go back six years to the last time the council raised it to $0.5905 per $100 assessed value.
Mayor James Mayberry said the city has one of the lowest property tax rates in the area.
Citizens residing in the city are invited to attend the public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at city hall located at 392 North Main Street. It will be held in the main city council chamber.
