According to a Press Release from Fairfield Glade Police Chief Michael Williams, on August 15, 2021 at approximately 6:20 PM, Officers from the Fairfield Glade Police Department responded to Wildwood Stables for a report of deceased
horses. Officers responded to find three horses in close proximately of each other in an open field
deceased. The horses did not have any observable injuries and foul play is not suspected. It was
determined that a lightning strike was the probable cause of the horses’ sudden death. No
employees or guests were present during the storm.
