GUN MAKER SMITH & WESSON RELOCATING HEADQUARTERS TO TENNESSEE, INVESTING $125 MILLION

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Gun maker Smith & Wesson is relocating its headquarters to Tennessee.  Governor Bill Lee says the company will invest $125 million to make the move to the Volunteer State and create 750 new jobs.  The new headquarters is moving from Springfield, Massachusetts to Maryville, Tennessee in Blount County.

Smith & Wesson is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and designers of firearms and has been around since 1852. The company makes handguns. long guns, handcuffs, suppressors, and other firearm-related products.

“Our pro-business reputation, skilled workforce, and commitment to the Second Amendment make Tennessee an ideal location for firearms manufacturing. We welcome Smith & Wesson to The Volunteer State and are proud this U.S.-based brand has chosen to relocate from Massachusetts. Thanks for your significant investment in Blount County and for creating 750 new jobs,” Gov Bill Lee said.

Earlier this year, the announcement was made that another gun maker, Troy Industries, relocated to Clarksville.

Tennessee is home to more than 20 small arms and ammunition manufacturers. State officials said Tennessee is the top in the nation when it comes to employment in the small arms and ammunition sector, with employment increasing by 54% over the last five years.
