PALACE THEATRE NOW REOPENED AFTER BEING DEEMED SAFE
The Palace Theatre reopened Monday after the historic building, originally opened in 1938, was deemed safe by structural engineers. The City plans to contract out the repair work and is in contact with its insurance company to determine what costs it will cover. In the meantime, large clamps have been installed on the roof to keep the wall stable and water out of the building. The Theatre was closed on March 23 after a 2 foot top section of the wall along First Street collapsed. Scheduled shows and programs will resume immediately.
