On Monday, Jackson County Middle School was in lockdown for several hours.

Reports were that a student had brought a loaded gun to school. According to officials, the firearm was confiscated and the student was removed from the school by law enforcement. The school was secured and students remained in a soft lockdown until around 1:30 that afternoon.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation.
