A woman came into the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Thursday to report that she had been scammed out of $1,100.

The 66-year-old woman stated that she had just moved to Cumberland County from Arkansas and was using Marketplace on Facebook to buy furniture. She stated she talked to a woman named Patricia Gale about purchasing some furniture that she had for sale. The woman sent $399 on January 31st and sent another $700 on February 1st through the cash app for the furniture. The woman told officers that Patricia had agreed to drop off the furniture on February 2nd at 8 A.M. and never showed up. When trying to contact Patricia on Facebook, it seemed that she had been blocked by her.

The woman then realized she had been scammed. She had no information about Patricia or how to contact her.
