SWEETWATER, TN- A suspect wanted in a fatal shooting in Sweetwater has been taken into custody.

Multiple agencies were investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon in the Sweetwater area of Monroe County. Law Enforcement had requested the public’s assistance in this incident regarding a person of interest. Five people including a child were shot, according to authorities. One of the victims has died. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

26-year-old Liu Gabriel Huerta was arrested around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday night by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and US Marshal’s Smokey Mountain Fugitive Task Force. He is facing three counts of attempted first-degree murder, attempted aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and the use of a firearm during a dangerous felony.
