Funeral Services for Gertrude Cox, age 88, of Monterey, Tennessee, were conducted on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 2:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Eddy Way and Rev. Raymond Henry officiated and interment followed in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Cox was born on Monday, August 13, 1934, in Overton County, Tennessee, to the late Sam and Emma Phipps Clark. Mrs. Cox passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at her home. Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and helped her husband farm. She attended Shady Grove Baptist Church and Monterey Community Church. She was survived by her husband of 66 years, Radford Cox of Monterey, TN; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Sammy Murdock of Sparta, TN; 3 sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne Cox of Monterey, TN, Marshall and Selina Cox of Monterey, TN, Richard Cox of Monterey, TN; 7 grandchildren, Elisha Cox, Cody Murdock, Trevor Murdock, Allan Cox, Katessa Cox, Jimmy Wayne Cox Jr., and Angel Elizabeth Cox; 4 great-grandchildren, Kayden, Hudson, Blake, and Nicole; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Bernell Clark of Monterey, TN, Rosie and Paul White of Rickman, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister; sisters, Ethel Clark and Maggleen Clark; and 5 brothers, Horace “Hoppy”, Woodrow, Charlie, L.C., and Benton.
