SHERIFF’S OFFICE FINDS ABDUCTED CHILD IN FAIRFIELD GLADE

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office located an abducted girl yesterday.
The arrest report released this morning states an officer spoke with an investigator concerning a case involving the child and her possibly being in Fairfield Glade.
The officer learned that 26-year-old Laura Beth Elliot of Tampa, Florida, had an extradition felony warrant for interference with custody for abducting her 7-year-old daughter.
Authorities found out the mother and child could possibly be staying at a residence on Lakeshore Court.
The officer was told the two could be traveling in a black Mercedes.
As law enforcement went to the home, the vehicle was not there.
When one officer left, he saw the vehicle on Peavine Road next to Food City.
Law enforcement stopped the Mercedes with a male driver inside. He was asked if he knew why he was pulled over, to which he replied yes. The driver was asked if the mother and child were at the home on Lakeshore Drive. The driver replied yes.
Several officers came to the residence. They found Elliot and the child in an upstairs area of the home.
Elliot was arrested and taken to the Cumberland County jail.
The child was taken to the House of Hope to await her father, who has full custody, to come and pick her up.
