Much-needed rainfall is aiding firefighters in battling a large wildfire that ignited overnight in northern Rhea County.

As of early this morning, it had grown to an estimated 40 acres in size in the area of Jonas Holloway Lane on top of Grandview Mountain.

The cause of the fire was not initially released.
