CUMBERLAND COUNTY TEACHER ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES

A teacher in Cumberland County was arrested today on drug charges.

A K-9 officer and his handler with Interquest Canines, a service that the Cumberland County Board of Education has utilized for several years to aid in detecting not only drugs by also guns, alerted on a vehicle in the parking lot of Pine View Elementary.

It was determined the vehicle belonged to a part-time teacher in the school.

Upon searching the vehicle, School Resource Officer Josh Parrigin and Student Resource Officer Cpl. Jeff Fitzgerald located illegal drugs which resulted in the arrest of 31-year-old Angela Elizabeth Anderson of Cookeville.

She is currently suspended from the school system without pay.

Anderson was arrested for simple possession of a Schedule VI drug (marijuana), manufacture, sale, and delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance (cocaine), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Anderson was processed into the Cumberland County jail and placed under a $7,000 bond.

She will make her first appearance on the charges in Cumberland County General Sessions Court on January 8, 2024.
