TDOT 10-YEAR PLAN INCLUDES LOCAL AND AREA PROJECTS

Today, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) released its new ten-year plan.
Funding for the projects will be through traditional state and federal money.
Some of the projects in our area in the plan include funding two pieces of the Highway 127 project in Cumberland County. Construction on the $15.5 million road work will begin in 2029 on turn lanes on the highway in the northern part of the county.
Also included is a $193 million project to build an Interstate 40 truck climbing lane between Cookeville and Monterey. Work on the project is projected to begin in 2029.
A bypass on State Route 52 in Clay County is planned, costing $12.4 million.
A choice lane, or a lane you would pay to use, will be installed in the future on I-40 just east of the I-40/I-75 split into Knoxville. Choice Lanes allows motorists to have an option on congested urban highways to provide reliable trip times. These new lanes typically use pricing, vehicle eligibility, and/or access control to achieve better operational performance than general-purpose lanes.
