VICTIM REPORTEDLY ASSAULTED AND BICYCLE STOLEN IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Cumberland County deputies yesterday learned of an alleged assault.

The victim, in his 20s, told officers he was starting his first day on the job at Royal Oak.

He purchased a new bicycle from Walmart the night before to ride to work.

The victim said the front tire lost traction, causing him to wreck on the way to work around 5 a.m.

Deputies noted in the report that is when a vehicle stopped. Two individuals got out and asked him if he needed help.

Before the victim could answer, the two started to kick him in the ribs and the back of his head.

The assailants took the victim’s bicycle and his backpack containing a gold watch, food, and drinks. The pair fled the scene.

The victim told officers the only thing he remembers about the suspect’s vehicle is it was silver or white and missing a front bumper.

The incident is under investigation.
