On March 8, 1971, the Michael Dunn Center was founded by C.R. Lay and named after Mr. Lay’s grandson. Three years ago, the Michael Dunn Center staff was planning a big 50th anniversary celebration but could not move forward because of COVID-19.

Roane County Executive Wade Creswell has proclaimed today (Friday, March 8, 2024) as Michael Dunn Center Day in honor of an organization that has changed thousands of lives and helped shape a community for over half a century.

Creswell was joined for the signing by Michael Dunn Center President/CEO Michaele Butler, Harriett Westmoreland, longtime board member and mother of Michael, and the guest of honor himself, Michael Dunn.
