It will take nearly two more months for road crews to replace a bridge over the Obed River on Sparta Highway in Crossville.

While installing abutments for the bridge, workers discovered rocks closer to the surface than first anticipated. Crews came up with a new design to compensate and continue the work.

The bridge was closed in September 2023 when work proceeded to tear down and replace the bridge. The original projected time of completion was late November 2024.

The setback pushes the projected finish time to sometime in January 2025.

Detour routes are in place while the work is underway.
