FAIRFIELD GLADE WOMAN SCAMMED OF $3,000 DOLLARS, SCAMMERS PRETENDED TO BE CHASE BANK

Cumberland County Deputy Fatima Pena was called out to the Fairfield Glade Police Department on Monday in response to a scam incident.
The victim claims that she had received a call from Chase Bank stating she had two charges on her account from California, but told the caller she never made any such transaction and was advised to get LifeLock as a protective measure. Over the next 6 hours, the caller asked her for and recieved her social security number, bank information, and her husband’s bank information.
The caller never gave his own identity to her, and the victim claims the caller never had an accent. She said she felt the call was suspicious but the Caller ID was labeled Chase Bank, and checked online if the phone number matched Chase Bank, which it did. She also said the caller had blocked outside calls until they were through.
After getting off the phone, the victim checked her bank account and found $3,000 in charges. She later contacted Chase Bank who started a case with their fraud department.
The deputy advised the victim to factory reset her phone and told her about IC3.gov. The victim believes she will not likely get her money back.
The victim was later informed the charges on her account came from a Panda Express in Abu Dhabi.
