On Tuesday last week, Deputy Jacob Moore of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was advised by Central Dispatch of a Vandalism Report that needed to be taken in the area of Valley Lane in Crossville.

Upon arriving, Moore made contact with the complainant, her mother, and the complainant’s son, and learned that earlier in the afternoon while the mother was at home, she was approached by an unknown male who offered to reseal her driveway. After denying the unknown male’s request, as she had already gotten her driveway resealed recently, the complainant said he began to apply an extra layer of sealant anyway, spraying sealant on the mother’s car, the wooden trim of the home, sidewalk, and grass in the process—an estimated $250 in damage.

The male then requested $1,300, lowering to $900, and again to $860.

The mother stated the male named himself with an alias and was driving a Black Ford F-150 with an extended cab.

Three days later, Deputy Moore made contact with another victim in the same area who identified the same male, though under a different alias, after she had flagged him down to help unload some equipment. The male then offered to reseal her driveway, and she allowed him. Afterward, she paid him $850 via Zelle.

Deputy Moore was shown the transaction on the second victim’s phone and was told the male was from Knoxville.  The second victim has offered to work with Law Enforcement if the decision is made to pursue further charges for the suspect.
