ALMOST $2,200 IN GOODS STOLEN FROM CROSSVILLE WALMART

Almost $2,200 in goods was stolen from the Crossville Walmart yesterday.
Officer Matthew Charlock of the Crossville Police Department made contact with a Walmart Asset Protection Associate who presented video footage of two males at one of the associate checkout registers at the front of the building.
In the footage, one male can be seen grabbing multiple bills from all of his pockets, some of them being 50s and others in unknown values.
The male begins to pay for the items, starts handing the associate the money, and performs what is known as a “cash swap” maneuver.
A ‘cash swap’ is when a person takes cash and tries to confuse a store associate into thinking that they had been given more money than they actually received in an attempt to only pay a small portion of the total price.
In this case, the other male suspect hands the first male a phone during the cash swap process to hide a portion of the money behind it.
Among the items taken were a breast pump, an owlet baby camera, a baby sock heart monitor, approximately 20 HP printer ink packs, five baby graphic t-shirts, a women’s t-shirt, and a prepaid Visa gift card, with a total value of $2,756. With the cash swap, the store had taken a loss of $2,199.
Walmart is currently unable to determine what items were stolen and which were paid for.
The Crossville Police Department now has the video footage and has placed it into evidence.
The suspects are currently unidentified.
