TBI MOURNS PASSING OF MARK GWYN

Last month, we shared the sad news of the passing of former Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Director Mark Gwyn, who died at the age of 61.
Director Gwyn, a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, began his career in law enforcement as a police officer in his hometown of McMinnville in 1985. Three years later, he joined the TBI as a special agent in its Criminal Investigation Division. Eight years later, he was promoted to the role of Executive Officer and later served as Assistant Director of the Forensic Services Division. In June of 2004, Governor Phil Bredesen appointed Mark Gwyn to serve as TBI Director, making him the first African-American to hold the post, a position he held until his retirement in 2018.
This weekend, we say our final goodbye to our friend and colleague Mark Gwyn, with a Celebration of Life ceremony. The service will be live-streamed on Saturday, and we would like Director Gwyn’s friends, work colleagues, and members of the public to join the celebration via one of the links below.
The service begins at 2 pm CT on Saturday, September 14th.
Please join us as we celebrate a life well lived.
