KNOX RURAL METRO FIRE RESPONDS TO TWO FIRES

Yesterday at approximately 1013am, Rural Metro Fire responded to a reported vehicle fire near structures in the 5400 block of Tazewell Pike. When crews arrived, they found a commercial vehicle pulling a trailer with paving equipment on board. The trailer appeared to be on fire around the axles and threatening the equipment above. Quick action by the responders limited the damage to minimal for the equipment and no damage to nearby structures.

Later that day at approximately 430pm, Rural Metro Fire responded to a reported house fire in the 9300 block of Pedigo Road in North Knox County. Crews arrived to find heavy fire on the back side of the house, spreading into the attic. The fire was stopped there, but the home still suffered heavy damage from heat and smoke. The occupants were at home when the fire occurred and were safely outside when crews arrived. The American Red Cross assisted the occupants.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
