MAN LOSES 2017 CHEVY TAHOE TO CIGARETTE ASHES

Deputy Joshua Matthews responded to a vehicle fire on Old HWY 70 yesterday.

After arriving on the scene after Cumberland County Fire Department, Matthews observed what was left of a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe sitting in the wood line. The vehicle appeared to have heavy fire damage from the dashboard area toward the rear of the car.

The owner said that he had been smoking before arriving at his wooded lot where he was going to make a campfire, and he thinks some ashes from him smoking in the car caused the fire.

The owner couldn’t advise any insurance information at this time, and none was shown on his registration. He valued the vehicle at around $27,000.

There is no further information regarding the fire at this time.
