POLICE RESPOND TO RURAL KING DRILL THEFT

On Friday, Crossville Police Department units were dispatched to Rural King about a shoplifter in the store. Before arriving, police units were notified by dispatch that the male subject went out of the front door and took off running toward the Citgo station.

He was wearing a faded pink hoodie and had cut a power tool from the box and taken it out of the store without paying for it. Officer Larry Qualls arrived at the store and noticed a male subject sweating profusely, with shaking hands, appearing to be very nervous. As the officer grabbed the front door, the mail started walking in the parking lot going towards Speedway. At the same time, Sergeant Mangas arrived in the parking lot, saw the subject, and knew him to be Eric Conaster.

Conaster was detained and an employee of Rural King identified him as the one who took the merchandise. Conaster was read his Miranda Rights and asked where the merchandise was. After a bit of talking, Conaster told police units the merchandise was in the trash can located next to the right side of the building. Inside the trash can was located a faded pink hoodie and a bag of drills.

The tools were returned to rural King and Conaster was transported to the Justice Center intake for booking.
