ALMOST $21,000 CHARGED TO STOLEN CREDIT CARD AFTER CAR BREAK-IN

On Wednesday, Detective Fatima Pena went to the Minetta Dr. area in regards to a vehicle break-in that occurred the previous night at Druid Hills Golf Course. Upon arriving, Pena spoke with a man who pulled out a black piece that had been taken off his car when it was broken into.
The man said he didn’t think anything of it till he got home and was informed by his wife about weird charges on their credit cards. The victim checked his wallet and realized $100.00 in cash and three credit cards were all taken from his vehicle.
He said he and his wife received a message stating she had attempted a transaction on a Belk card for $500.00 dollars, and their Citizens Equity First Credit Union card had received over 25 transactions. In total, the transactions added up to $20,900.00 dollars.
The victim said both Belk and his CEFCU had been notified of the incident and that he would be getting in contact with his insurance company regarding the car and the damage to the door.
The victim said he had a friend at the golf course who had their vehicle broken into in the same way but did not call Fairfield Glade Police Department because nothing was taken from inside the vehicle.
No suspects have been named and no charges have been filed as of yet.
